Fall 2026: A Season of Cosmic Change
Did you know that the autumn of 2026 arrives on the heels of one of the year’s most powerful eclipse seasons? On August 12, a total solar eclipse in Leo invited themes of courage, creativity, identity, and new beginnings, followed just two weeks later by an August 28 partial lunar eclipse in Pisces—a celestial moment associated in astrology with emotional release, closure, intuition, and surrender. As September begins, we are still moving through the energetic symbolism of these eclipses: one encouraging us to step more fully into who we are, and the other reminding us that sometimes we must release what we've outgrown before we can move forward.
Then comes the September Equinox on September 22, when the Sun crosses the Earth's equatorial plane and day and night are nearly equal. In the Northern Hemisphere, this marks the beginning of autumn—a natural invitation toward balance, reflection, and turning inward. Astrologically, the Sun's movement into Libra beautifully echoes this theme, shifting our attention toward harmony, relationships, reciprocity, and finding our center. And the cosmic transitions don't stop there: Jupiter is now in Leo, Uranus has entered Gemini, while Saturn and Neptune have moved into Aries, creating a year astrologers describe as one of reinvention, new ideas, personal responsibility, and collective change.
As we move deeper into fall, Venus turns retrograde in Scorpio on October 3, followed by Mercury retrograde in Scorpio on October 24. In astrological tradition, these retrogrades encourage us to revisit relationships, values, communication, trust, and the things we may have avoided looking at beneath the surface. What a beautiful parallel to the wisdom of yoga: aparigraha—the practice of letting go. Just as autumn trees release their leaves without resistance, we can use this season to release old stories, patterns, expectations, and attachments. Step onto your mat, breathe deeply, and ask yourself: What am I ready to release, and what am I ready to make space for? The changing season—and the changing sky—remind us that transformation isn't something to fear. It is part of the natural rhythm of life.
