Snacks and Drinks
These are LONG weekends where you’ll move a lot, and when you’re not moving your body you’re exercising your brain and absorbing material- bring proper hydration, lots of healthy snacks. Trying to hot yoga with a full chipotle burrito in your belly is not a great idea. Nuts, fruit, jerky, energy bars, hummus, hardboiled eggs- all good snacks. You’ll have breaks during which you can drive to get some food- but that will take time away from your ability to sit and relax.
Changes of Clothing (one or more per day)
We practice in the mornings (hot 75 min) and the rest of the day alternates between more practice, lectures, and learning the JIP series. You will sweat multiple times throughout the day. You can definitely shower at the studio- but if you do- bring loose pants/shorts to wear after your showers… trying to get yoga leggings on while still sweaty or after a shower in the studio bathrooms is a second workout! We ask you to keep your showers to 5 minutes or less and to allow the students coming into the studio for class to quickly use the restrooms before you shower.
Deodorant
This is arguably your most important item to pack! Apply generously!
Extra Towels
An extra face towel, and also an extra yogi toes. Even one more towel if you plan on showering after practice at the studio.
Back Support
Much of our day is sitting on the studio floor or outside. As you’ve seen, in the studio there are only blocks and the walls to lean against. Our early morning meetings and lunch breaks happen either in our alternate meeting location or outside in the fresh air. Feel free to bring pillows or blankets to create a comfortable learning environment for yourself. *Please no chairs with hard feet in the studio
Highlighters, Pens,Tab-stickers/Divider Stickers
This might help you mark areas that you need to know, or need to re-read on your own time. Keeping your information organized will make it easier for you to learn the material.
Tigerbalm/Biofreeze
You may not need it your first weekend but your body will be sore and tired. Pack any items you like for sore muscles.
Punctuality
We are going through this process as a group and rely on everyone being at each session on time, prepared, and ready to learn.
The Right Attitude
Whether or not you plan on teaching, this process will challenge you to become a better communicator, to connect with others, to open up, and be vulnerable. Know that all the feedback and constructive criticism you’ll get is to build you into a better leader. Be willing to get vulnerable- you’ll get that much more out of the experience.
